Super Eagles Hit With Injury Woes Ahead Of The Games Against Ivory Coast And Tunisia Games

The Super Eagles face the Elephants and Carthage Eagles in Austria next month, but will likely have to do without their energetic midfielder.

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is expected to be out for a few weeks so he will not be available for Nigeria's international friendlies against Ivory Coast and Tunisia in October.

Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye confirmed this development to Goal as gathered by Sports Central and said: "Of course Ndidi is injured and has been excluded from matches against Tunisia and Cote d'Ivoire."

Ndidi's absence would be a huge setback for the national team as the former Gent star is regularly considered one of the best in the world in defensive midfield.

Victor Osimhen's move to Naples this summer made him the most expensive Nigerian transfer in history, but Ndidi remains the country's most regarded star, according to Transfermarkt.

Ndidi finished last season as one of the best ball interceptors in the English Premier League and has already started the new campaign in great form.

Although Brendan Rodgers some times uses the midfielder as a provisional center-back, he has helped Leicester win two league games in two.

Super Eagles head coach Rohr is expected to replace Ndidi with Ramon Azeez of Granada, who is already on the waiting list.
