Former Cameroon international and FC Barcelona midfielder Alex Dimitri Song Bilong has lost his patience with FC Sion and has reported them to FIFA.
The Swiss top tier side included the 32-year-old former Arsenal star on a list of nine players they sacked last week for their refusal to a reduced wage proposed them because of the CoronaVirus outbreak.
The club has been desperately trying to cut costs and a wage reduction is one avenue it is exploring.
I also promptly terminated the contracts of all players who either didn't respond within 24 hours or didn't accept the wage cut. The Swiss players’ union has indicated it’s support for the axed players.
He shared:
“My lawyer will take care of it, it’s gone to FIFA. We’re going to defend our rights.
“We received a message to tell us that everyone had to sign a paper saying that we had to reduce our salaries. We decided together to not sign this document. We wanted to have a discussion with our bosses.
“I’ve not committed any professional mistake. Every club talks to their players to reach solutions."
FC Sion sacked nine of its players for refusing unemployment settlement amid the coronavirus pandemic. The one time West Former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou, Christian Zock, Ivorian Seydou Doumbia, Pajtim Kasami, Ermir Lenjani, Xavier Kouassi, Birama Ndoye and Mickael Facchinetti are the other players that have been shown the door.
