The Argentine was the topic of a brutal video displaying his mistakes in the weekend’s 3-0 humbling against Liverpool. A caption alongside the video read: "Alejandro Garnacho - Getafe's next star?"
Garnacho, having seen the post - could not resist replying. He wrote: "Wasting your time making clips for me. Your life so far?" However, he appeared to regret his reply and very quickly deleted the post. Garnacho had endured a difficult afternoon against Liverpool.
He was replaced by Amad with just over 20 minutes to go of the Red Devils’ bruising defeat against their fierce rivals. That decision did not go down particularly well with United fans, who booed the call to replace Garnacho instead of Rashford.
Garnacho’s reply on social media is not the only activity in response to Sunday’s dismantling. In the face of Casemiro’s horror show, the Brazilian’s wife has also sent a strong message.
Anna Mariana, posted a photo of his trophy collection on Instagram following his two errors against the Reds. She added a photo of her husband celebrating with his Manchester United teammates alongside the caption as cited by Sports Central: “Always strong Casemiro, the biggest (heart).”
Elsewhere, ex-Red Devils’ forward Andy Cole has also called out fans for their lack of support for struggling forward Rashford. He said: “It’s disappointing. With Marcus being a boy from Manchester and, considering how long I’ve been personally involved with the club, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a local player have such a relationship with the fans. “It’s a little bit surreal, because the fans usually get behind one of their own and, in general, they get behind the team. For them to focus on one individual is a bit disappointing to see and the only way Marcus can get through this situation is by winning the fans back.
He added: "That’s going to be done via his performances, goals and doing what he did a couple of seasons ago. I’ve said this before, but nobody actually knows what’s going on with him. It could be something so personal that it’s impacting his football. “I’m not going to sit here and say it could be X, Y and Z because in football you need to get back to basics and that’s what Marcus has to do. We’re only three games into the season and there’s still a hell of a lot of football still to be played yet.”
