Jake Paul Has Been Told By Boxing Fans That It's Not Too Late To Pull Out Of His Fight With Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson will come out of retirement at the age of 58 to take on social media star Paul in less than three weeks. Tyson's last outing was a bore draw in an exhibition bout with fellow ring legend Roy Jones Jr in 2020, while his last professional bout saw him quit on his stool after five rounds against Kevin McBride in 2005.

Fans and commentators have been outspoken in their criticism of the fight, especially after Tyson pulled out of the original fight night after suffering from an inflamed ulcer. The former undisputed world champion insists he is healthy and has recently been posting several videos of his training.

And fans have reacted by backing Tyson to upset the odds next month, with one user telling Jake he can still save face and withdraw. "Jake.... still time to call this off," they said, while another added: "Mike is literally the biggest he has ever been, at 58, and his speed and power resembles that of a 28 year-old. He’s defying the odds in the same way LeBron James is."

Tyson also appears to have the support of British heavyweight Joe Joyce who said: "Let’s Go Mike!!!"" while Paul himself reacted to the video, which shows Tyson working out with weights, by saying as cited by Sports Central: "Fair play Mike. You look incredible. Hulk s***. But I’m still f***ing you up in 20 days."

Tyson last week posted a video of him knocking down a sparring partner as he looked to give an insight into his training. His previous videos showed only a few seconds of action, prompting fans to speculate about his stamina. Tyson and Paul will compete over eight two-minute rounds on November 15, and will wear 14oz gloves, despite the contest being deemed a professional bout.

But Tyson's long-time friend Gene Kilroy, who also managed Muhammad Ali, said he was impressed by the legend's work in the gym. “This is the strongest I’ve ever seen you, the strongest I’ve ever seen you and I’ve known you since you were 13 years old,” he said to Tyson. “I think this is so amazing, this impressed the sh***out of me. Nothing impresses me. You know what, I’m going to tell you the truth, I don’t lie. I was worried about him traveling here, traveling there, I can sleep now at night. This is great. I’m proud of you, Mike. I’m proud of you. It’s a new generation."
