Lennox Lewis Says Fury Must Throw Far More Punches If He's To Beat Usyk In The Rematch

Lennox Lewis says Tyson Fury must 'throw far more punches' in the rematch with Oleksandr Usyk to be in with a chance of beating the Ukrainian.

Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight world champion of the four-belt era by stripping Fury of his WBC title during their first bout in May.

The pair will go toe-to-toe for a second time in Saudi Arabia on December 21 - with Fury looking to avenge the only loss of his professional career.

However, Lewis who beat Evander Holyfield in 1999 to become an undisputed heavyweight champion says Fury must make several adjustments.

Lewis is adamant that the Gypsy King's output will directly impact the result of the fight, stating Fury must throw a great volume of punches.

Speaking about Fury's approach to the fight during an interview with Boxing News, Lewis said as cited by Sports Central: 'It's not as simple as that [doing the same thing again but just better]. 'Tyson Fury does need to make some adjustments. If he didn't make any adjustments, then he would lose the fight again. 'He needs to step into the ring with a clear approach and be ready to throw far more punches than in the first bout.  'I don't think he wants to give too much away. And I think we're going to get a different Tyson for this fight.'

The former undisputed heavyweight champion finished by saying: 'I think Tyson Fury realises what he did wrong in that first fight.'

Meanwhile, Andy Lee - who is one of Fury's trainers and featured in the corner alongside Sugar Hill Steward and his father John - has said the Gypsy King is more than capable of beating Usyk.

Lee said the cut Fury sustained above his right eye - which postponed the original fight date - negatively impacted his training camp ahead of the rearranged bout in May

Speaking to talkSPORT, Lee said: 'Because of the rearranged date because of the cut, Tyson couldn't spar. 'The conditioning and sharpness it took away, and his ability to concentrate and stay ready and sustain attacks. 'When Tyson would have success he would have to ease off and back away and build up his energy again before moving on. It will be different because he will be able to spar.

He added: 'I think Usyk will look to feint and come forward, which will force Tyson to engage with him or box and move. 'He couldn't come forward because he didn't have the conditioning from not sparring, and he had to take breaks. 'This time round, how he will win it is he will be better conditioned and sharper.'
