Jake Paul Makes Retirement Announcement Just Weeks After Beating Mike Tyson

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has insisted AnEsonGib is the best influencer boxer in the world - because he is long retired from the 'sport'.

With a professional record of 11-1, 'The Problem Child' has taken the world of boxing by the scruff of its neck since his debut four years ago. The 27-year-old already has wins over the likes of Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren. Most recently, he secured a unanimous decision victory over former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson.

After the fight, Paul admitted despite the war of words between the pair in the lead up that he didn't want to knock out Tyson when he clocked he was simply holding on as his age began to tell. He said as cited by Sports Central: "I wanted to give the fans a show but I didn't want to hurt someone that didn't need to be hurt. "There was a point where he (Tyson) was not engaging back, I could just tell his age was showing a little bit. That violence war thing... that went away as the rounds went on. "People just love to hate me. I intentionally say things for people to hate. That's what I like to do. If people want to see more... give me a couple of months. I tried to give the best fight I possibly could. When someone's just surviving in the ring, it's hard to make it exciting. I don't care what people have to say. It is what it is."

Before making a name for himself in the sport, 'The Problem Child' had a few fights under his belt in the influencer boxing scene. After taking on Deji in an exhibition bout in 2018, the American made his professional debut against social media star AnEsonGib four years ago. Following his stoppage win over the YouTuber, Paul then took on former NBA sensation Nate Robinson stopping the 40-year-old in the second round.

Since then, Paul has taken on some notable names in the combat sports world as he looks to continue to thrive inside the squared-circle. According to Most Valuable Promotions, 'The Problem Child' has now retired from influencer boxing and has been replaced by his former rival, Gib.

MVP wrote on Instagram: “Flashback Friday to when Jake Paul was an influencer boxer. “Two fights, 2-0, 2 KOs. The best there was, is, and ever will be. Jake Paul is RETIRED from that sport. They need him, he doesn’t need them, hence why they said his name 400 times this past week. Gib is the current best in that sport.”

Gib recently defeated Slim Albaher to settle their long-time rivalry and, in doing so, became the Misfits middleweight champion in Qatar. While one judge scored the fight a questionable draw (76-76), the other two gave the nod to Gib by margins of 78-74 and 79-73.

Speaking after the clash, Gib said: "From meme to the best; I'm the best fighter in influencer boxing. I've taken out three promotions and I'm happy to be the Misfits champion. He was a great opponent, 7-0, good boxing ability and a great team. He made me train hard and it was a great fight."
