Chelsea Said To Have Turned Their Attention To Robert Lewandowsky

Chelsea are lining up a bid for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski as they hunt a new centre-forward, but have learned they will have to fork out a significant fee to sign him

Chelsea are eager to sign a new centre-forward this summer, with Erling Haaland at the top of their shortlist.

However, the Norwegian star will likely cost at least £130million, with Borussia Dortmund determined to keep hold of their prized asset.

As a result, Chelsea are starting to look for alternative targets, with Sergio Aguero and even Brentford's Ivan Toney linked with moves to Stamford Bridge.

But it now seems they are set to look at Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski instead, according to ESPN.

The Polish star still has another two years to run on his contract at the Allianz Arena, but it seems he could be tempted to move.

Bayern will apparently demand £60m for Lewandowski, who is also being watched by Manchester City.

Paris Saint-Germain are also interested, but any move would apparently only happen if Kylian Mbappe leaves this summer.

Chelsea forked out £250m on new talent last summer, including attackers Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

However, the latter has failed to shine when given the opportunity through the middle, with Havertz having more joy as a false nine.

But with Thomas Tuchel eager to play a leading striker, Lewandowski fits the bill.

Just last week, reports emerged in German outlet Bild that Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi, was considering pushing for a move this summer.

Bayern are currently unwilling to offer the 32-year-old a new contract, the report claims.

And because of that stance, they could be forced into selling him sooner rather than later, in order to avoid a repeat of David Alaba's departure.

The Austrian centre-back's contract was allowed to run out, and he is now set to join Real Madrid for nothing this summer.
