Ezinne Kalu On Her Perfect Dream Five Team In Basketball

We continue to ask the biggest stars of the female game to tell us which players from around the world, past or present, they would like to play in their "Dream Five", and it's the turn of the Nigerian playmaker Ezinne Kalu.

As early as February, the guard was the engine for her national team when they stamped their ticket to the Tokyo Olympics. Kalu was the leader with 16.0 points per game and contributed an impressive 4.3 assists per game in Belgrade.

In accordance with our previous edition of the “Dream Five” series with the Japanese Ramu Tokashiki and her selections, we now pass the sticks on to Ezinne, who will explain her choices.

Cappie Pondexter - USA

My two guards would be the only Cappie Pondexter. She has the killer instinct, likes to get into defense and follows her every game. She sets the tone. Our speed and launching it from anywhere on the floor, be it midfield or from below, would be fatal. I know that if we need a bucket, we can put the ball in her hands! That would definitely open up the floor for us.

Cynthia COOPER - USA

As part of a three-guard lineup, I will choose the best of Cynthia Cooper. She’s one of the greatest. She was and is the one I like to call "walking bucket". She was unstoppable during her time and she really saw the game in so many different ways. By adding her to this team, I have to smile because I think no one can beat us!

Emma MEESSEMAN - Belgium

At Power Forward, I take Emma Meesseman from Belgium. I did not only saw her play at the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Tenerife, but also some of her during the FIBA Olympic Qualification Tournament. I mean, she just follows seriously. She is super intelligent on the ground, she plays hard and shows a lot of leadership. I really think I could trust him when it comes to an intense game.

Liz CAMBAGE - Australia

At five, I will definitely go with Liz Cambage from Australia. I mean, I'm laughing because it's obvious to me. She is super strong and very physically on the field. I like the way she always finishes inside, but it's also versatile and we see it because she can go out and shoot all three!

Ezinne KALU - Nigeria

I would be the "Floor General" at some point and with this ‘Dream Five’ selection, we would certainly be extremely hard to beat. I think we would all harmonize perfectly. Not only because we are super talented, but also because of the passion and hunger we have. The way we all give 100% every time we step on the floor, would set us apart from any other team.
