Central reports that former Reds player and legend Bruce Grobbelaar has warned
Paris Saint Germain forward Kylian Mbappe he will face a fight to get into
Liverpool's starting lineup if he eventually moves to Anfield.
The French international has been associated on several occasions with a speculative move to Jürgen Klopp team in recent months with his long-term future at Paris-Saint-Germain being questionable.
Madrid would also be interested in signing the World Cup winner, but the
coronavirus pandemic may have played a part to allow the 21-year-old forward
remain in Paris for at least one more season.
And while Mbappe is one of the most remarkable talents in the world, the former Reds goalkeeper Grobbelaar thinks that he would not necessarily dissolve Klopp's famous front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Speaking to Perform News as cited by Sports Central, Grobbelaar said: "Well, if he comes to Anfield he's going to have to prove his worth up front for sure. And that's only if and when he comes. "We do not know what the circumstances are. It will be up to Klopp and FSG who will reveal something probably in the new season. "But whoever comes to Anfield, as you see with Takumi Minamino, he's going to have to improve a hell of a lot more to get into the side."
However, Liverpool are unlikely to move for Mbappe due to the finances involved in completing such deal.
After seeing how his former team won the last Premier League division, Grobbelaar believes that any player who does not want to go to the Reds should see a doctor.
He added: "The squad is brilliant at this stage, it's up to FSG and the Klopp advisers that are going to determine whether those players go or remain. "I, for one, think they will be going because they want first-team football. "Listen, at this moment in time every player wants to come and play for Liverpool because we're the Premiership title holders and anybody who doesn't must go to see the doctor very quickly, because we are the best team and we will be the best team for so many years.
