Manchester United Ready To Allow Unhappy Star Leave This January

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been offered to Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window.

Van de Beek has persistently struggled for game time since arriving at Old Trafford from Ajax in the summer of 2020.

While many expected his fortunes to change under interim boss Ralf Rangnick, the Dutchman has been handed a total of six minutes of game time in the Premier League since the German’s arrival.

His lack of game time in Manchester has also impacted his international prospects having been left out of the last three Netherlands squads by Louis van Gaal.

With just four starts all season three in the Champions League and one in the Carabao Cup van de Beek is upon to a loan move away this month.

According to The Manchester Evening News, Newcastle and Dortmund have been ‘spoken to’ about their interest in a move until the end of the season.

Rangnick will have the final say, however.

There was slightly more optimism over van de Beek’s future at United after the 26-year-old came off the bench for the final 20 minutes of the FA Cup third round clash against Aston Villa.

United struggled throughout the contest despite the win but van de Beek’s introduction, slotting into a diamond formation, helped them regain some control of the contest.

Rangnick explained as cited by Sports Central: ‘The game against Villa today confirmed, with a minimum three central midfielders, we had problems in times of the game to control the centre of the pitch. ‘From the very moment when we changed to a diamond in the last 20 minutes, when Donny came on, from then on we controlled the game, we had our counter-attack situations.
