Sports Ministry Secures Full Scholarships For 20 At Nigerian Tulip International College
The Federal Government
through the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has
reiterated its commitment to ensure that young talented Athletes get
quality education as they participate in sports, since sports and
education are indivisible for all round growth.
The Hon. Minister Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare
confirmed this during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (
M.O.U) between the Ministry and Nigerian Tulip International College
(NTIC) on the 100% scholarship given to 20 Nigerian students in five
different sports. Mr Dare said one needs education to be a good
sportsman, and so the ministry’s focus is on the growth of our youths,
to nurture them now that they are young, more so being the future of
the Nation, with a view to grassroot development and education.
“I can see our future sports men and women in these children and we must
invest in them with our collaboration with NTIC. We believe this
investment must fly” the Minister added.
To this end, the Minister hopes other similar organizations will
embrace this same plan and partner with the Ministry, to get more of
our talented youngsters on the right path.
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mr Gabriel Aduda stated
that the occasion is for the Ministry to pursue and fulfill its mandate
on the development of young talents in promoting sports and education
side by side, as one cannot be independent of the other.
Earlier, the Managing Director, NTIC, Mr. Feveollah Bilgin commended the
Ministry for the opportunity given to the school to sponsor the
students in collaboration with the Ministry.
“This collaboration humbles us to provide scholarship for the 14
students, we are honoured and very privileged, as the NTIC Sports
Academy is to train and develop the talents by giving them quality
education, sound training with the help of the ministry, he said.
There is ongoing plan to incorporate the remaining six students that
make up the 20 students.
One of the students, Favour Ajah Ndubisi, who plays Taekwando 50kg, and
Nigerian Champion gave the vote of thanks on behalf of other
students, promising that they will do their best to make the Ministry
and the Country proud.

at the event.
