In pursuit of Italian top flight highest goalscorer, Sports Central reports that Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will miss the Serie A golden boot after being dropped by from Juventus squad.
The 35-year-old superstar is said to be chasing Lazio’s Ciro Immobile in the race for Italy's top scorer.
The 30-year-old Immobile have had a phenomenal year in front of goal, scoring 35 goals in 36 games to help Lazio qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Ronaldo however, has found the net 31 times in 33 league games for Champions Juventus.
But Ronaldo had no chance of making up for it after being dropped out of their squad on Saturday night against Roma.
Immobile will be confirmed not only as the winner of Serie A’s Golden Boot, but also Europe’s Golden Shoe.
Even if Ronaldo had been on the pitch, it would have taken a little miracle to claim the award.
The former Real Madrid player had to score four goals for the chance to share the prize.
His absent from the match on the last day should have been done in view of the Champions League restart.
Juventus will host Lyon in the second leg of the round of 16 on Friday.
Maurizio Sarri's side must overcome a 1-0 deficit to progress at the Allianz Stadium.
