Ronaldo Quashes Rumour Linking Him Away From Juventus As He Looks Forward To A Third Scudetto Title

Juventus have secured a ninth consecutive Scudetto this season, and the Portuguese superstar wants to make it 10-in-a-row next season

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have committed to Juventus for at least one more season as he wants to win a third Scudetto with the Old Lady.

Ronaldo arrived at Juventus from Real Madrid two years ago in a shock transfer of €100million (£88m/$115m). He has kept his form strong despite seems entering the twilight years of his career.

The 35-year-old scored 21 Serie A goals in 2018/19, before improving them by 10 this season as Juventus won a ninth consecutive league title.

He entered the club history as he became only the third player to score more than 30 goals in a single season, following in the footsteps of Felice Borel (31 in 1933/34) and John Hansen (30 in 1951/52).

In fact, his in-goal performances this season have only been eclipsed by Lazio's Ciro Immobile and Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski in European football. The striker, who lives in Rome, denied the pair by signing up 36 times.

Slight speculation had suggested in recent months that Ronaldo, absent from Saturday's 3-1 loss to Roma last Saturday in Serie A, might consider leaving with the Portuguese star and coach Maurizio Sarri reportedly suffered from a difficult relationship at times this season.

But Ronaldo has hinted that he plans to stay for the 2020-21 season.

Ronaldo wrote in an Instagram post published as cited by Sports Central after Juventus won the Serie A trophy on Saturday: "Happy to win the last two of the nine consecutive Serie A titles for Juventus! "It seems easy but it isn't! Year after year with talent, dedication and hard work you can achieve your goals and be better than before! Let's go for my third.

Juve could yet end a 24-year wait for Champions League success this season as well. The two-time European champion last won the cup in the 1995/96 season.

The old lady will face Lyon 1-0 on Friday in the round of 16, but will appreciate their chances of overcoming that deficit in Turin as their opponents have only played one competitive game, the loss to Paris Saint Germain on penalties on Friday in the Coupa de la League final since March.
